‘Estonian culture in and for Europe’ film night at Elektriteater with Anna Hints

In cooperation with scenarist and director Anna Hints, the University of Tartu Museum is organising an evening of film and discussion which will take place from 17:00-21:00 on 12 December. The event will include screenings of the documentary ‘Ordinary Life‘ about European culture, which was produced as part of the Camino project, and the films directed by Anna Hints:  ‘Smoke Sauna Sisterhood‘ and ‘Sauna Day‘,  followed by a discussion with Anna Hints.

The discussion will be in English, moderated by Siim Angerpikk (Elektriteater). The films being show reflect the diversity of European culture and showcase Estonian sauna rituals as an example of national culture. Through the eyes of artists, ‘Ordinary Life‘ tells the story of the preservation of national and cultural identity in the countries that joined the EU two decades ago. Estonia is represented in the documentary by producer Marianne Ostrat and director and screenwriter Anna Hints, whose films will then be screened.

Hints has won a number of prizes, and Smoke sauna sisterhood (Savvusanna sõsarad) was selected as the Estonian entry for Best International Feature Film at the 2023 Academy Awards.

The event is being funded by the EU as part of the international Camino project. Tea and mulled wine will be offered to attendees. Admission is free.
